This article aims at giving an overview of the structure of the languages of the East Caucasian (Nakh–Daghestanian) language family. It will mainly concentrate on the fields of phonology and morphosyntax. At the same time it provides the necessary socio-linguistic background and touches upon the subject of the genetic affiliation of the Nakh–Daghestanian languages.
