Vanderbilt University Press, 1997. - 408 Pages.
Refereed and edited papers on the most current developments in the theory and applications of curves and surfaces.
During the week of June 27-July 3, 1996, the Third Inteational Conference on Curves and Surfaces was held in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (France). It was organized by the Association Fran?aise d'Approximation (A. F. A.).
The Conference was attended by 275 mathematicians from 26 different countries, and the program included 10 invited one-hour lectures and 161 research talks. The survey lectures dealt with several particularly active sub-areas of Approximation Theory. A number of the research talks were presented in minisymposia on Scientific Visualization, Multivariate Approximation and Radial Basis Functions, Nonlinear and Adaptive Wavelet Approximation, Multiresolution Methods in Computer Graphics, and Approximation Under Constraints, organized by Greg Nielson, Robert Schaback, Albert Cohen, Hans-Peter Seidel, and Dany Leviatan, respectively.
The proceedings of this conference consist of a total of 88 papers in two volumes. This volume contains 32 papers on multiresolution methods, wavelets, images, surface fitting, and related topics. The volume Curves and Surfaces with Applications in CAGD also published by Vanderbilt University Press, contains 56 papers.
