of Dundee in Scotland shows that tutoring can be highly effective.
However, every attempt at tutoring is not automatically effective,
everywhere. Tutoring needs to be thoughtful, well structured and
carefully monitored. Principles for effective tutoring are given in
this booklet. It has been prepared for inclusion in the Educational
