I. ВВЕДЕНИЕ

Исследования по органической геохимии углей предоставляют идеаль-

ную возможность сочетать петрологические и химические методы, поскольку

даже в сильно измененных углях с помощью соответствующей аппаратуры

устанавливается присутствие многих петрографических компонентов.

Значительный прогресс в области химии и петрологии углей за послед-

ние 25 лет стимулировался резко возросшими сразу после второй мировой

войны потребностями в угле как источнике энергии.

К наиболее важным в экономическом отношении и в силу этого более

изученным твердым топливам относятся битуминозные угли *, полуантра-

циты и антрациты, объединяемые термином «каменные угли». Данная глава

преимущественно рассматривает органическую геохимию именно этих видов

угля. Хотя для слабометаморфизованных разностей корреляции между

химическими и петрологическими параметрами изучены хуже, в главе

кратко будут изложены также вопросы геохимии бурых углей и торфов.

При написании этой главы были использованы труды И. Брегера [1],

Д. Ван Кревелена [2, 4], В. Фрэнсиса [3] и X. Лоури [5], охватывающие

все аспекты науки об угле.

II. УГЛЕФИКАЦИЯ

Согласно распространенному положению угли образуют непрерывный

ряд горючих ископаемых, который охватывает торф, лигниты, битуминоз-

ные угли и антрациты. Переход от одного члена ряда к другому сопровож-

дается потемнением и усилением блеска угля, а также постепенным повы-

шением содержания углерода, увеличением теплоты сгорания и уменьшением

влажности, выхода летучих и содержания кислорода. Количество водорода

сохраняется довольно постоянным вплоть до стадии полуантрацитов и антра-

цитов, после чего резко падает.

Сторонники теории непрерывной углефикации подразделяют этот про-

цесс на две стадии. Первая стадия является биохимической и относительно

короткой по времени, охватывая в основном период образования торфа.

Химические изменения отложившихся растительных остатков в этот период

обусловлены бактериальной деятельностью. Вторая фаза процесса более

длительна и известна под названием «метаморфической», «динамомеханиче-

ской» или «геохимической». На этой стадии химические и физические изме-

нения органического вещества вызываются исключительно взаимодействием

времени, температуры и давления, хотя относительная роль этих трех факто-

ров является спорной. Г. Хук и Дж. Карвейль [6], М. и Р. Тайхмюллер [7,

8] и О. Куил и Р. Патин [9] полагают, например, что имеют значение

только время и температура, а давление в общем замедляет процесс химиче-

ской углефикации. По мнению Д. Уайта [10] и Т. Стадниченко [11], наибо-

лее важными факторами, способствовавшими углефикации угольных пла-

стов в Аппалачах, были тектоническое напряжение и боковое давление.

Дж. Роберте [12] предполагал, что образование различных классов углей

происходило в результате метаморфических дистилляционных процессов

под воздействием тепла, образовывавшегося в результате вулканических

интрузий или выделявшегося при орогенических движениях.

Идея о двух последовательных стадиях углефикации — биохимической

и геохимической — представляется нам весьма полезной и перспективной

и будет использована при дальнейшем изложении материала.

Д. Драйден [13], составляя обзор теорий углефикации, указал, что

до сих пор не имеется бесспорных доказательств в поддержку той или иной

гипотезы. Поэтому наряду с идеей о непрерывном характере процесса угле-

фикации возможен другой крайний случай, когда для каждого класса угля

предполагается совершенно различный генезис. Компромиссным решением

вопроса явилась гипотеза В. Фукса [14], учитывающая, однако, только био-

химические факторы. По мнению автора, образование бурых углей, происхо-

дившее в аэробных условиях, и формирование битуминозных углей и антра-

цитов, протекавшее в анаэробной биохимической обстановке, связаны

с различными путями углефикации.

Попытки воспроизвести природный процесс углефикации в лаборатор-

ных условиях имели только частичный успех. Большинство экспериментов

сводилось к нагреванию растительных компонентов в автоклавах в присут-

ствии воды при температуре до 400° С. Однако изменение исходного мате-

риала в условиях гидротермальной углефикации не идет дальше стадии

низкометаморфизованных битуминозных углей. Для более высоких стадий

требуется высокое механическое давление при максимальном сохранении

всех газообразных продуктов внутри системы. Необходимость существен-

ного ускорения реакций в значительной мере снижает ценность опытов

по искусственной углефикации. Существенным недостатком является также

то, что при этом не учитываются ранние стадии разложения, когда домини-

рующее значение имеют бактериальная деятельность и другие биохимические

факторы.

JIL РАСПРЕДЕЛЕНИЕ УГЛЕЙ

Угли известны в отложениях всех возрастов, начиная с докембрийских

и кончая современными, но только после возникновения наземной расти-

тельности в конце силура (приблизительно 400 млн. лет назад) стали воз-

можными огромные скопления этих ископаемых. В истории Земли отмечают

два основных этапа углеобразования: первый охватывал карбон и пермь

и продолжался около 120 млн. лет, а второй, связанный главным образом

с третичным периодом, был короче и протекал наиболее интенсивно 20 млн.

лет назад. Образование углей во многих частях мира происходило также

и в мезозойскую эру, но в незначительных количествах. Третичные отложе-

ния представляют собой главным образом лигниты и бурые угли, тогда как

в пермское и карбоновое время образовались в основном битуминозные угли,

полуантрациты и антрациты.

IV. ОТЛОЖЕНИЕ УГОЛЬНЫХ ПЛАСТОВ

Громадное большинство угольных пластов образовалось из раститель-

ных остатков, аккумулировавшихся in situ в виде болотных торфяников,

многие из которых, вероятно, были значительной мощности и латеральной

протяженности. Ряд больших угольных бассейнов мира относится к пара-

лическому типу, т. е. характеризуется присутствием последовательно зале-

гающих морских и прибрежно-морских отложений. Они часто образовыва-

лись в пониженных береговых зонах, связанных с развитием геосинкли-

налей.

В каменноугольный период вследствие ритмических тектонических

движений, влиявших на эти зоны, чередовались периоды медленного и быст-

рого погружения, поэтому мощность угольных пластов в паралических

бассейнах обычно не превышает нескольких метров. В таких угленосных

толщах отмечается характерное многократное чередование осадков, причем

угольные пласты подстилаются континентально-речными породами, а над

углями располагаются морские или эстуариевые отложения.

По циклической седиментации имеется обширная литература, для

детального ознакомления с которой следует обратиться к сборнику статей

под редакцией Д. Мерриама [15]. Вопрос о ритмической седиментации в угле-

носных толщах был недавно рассмотрен Т. Уэстоллом [16]. Существуют

современные паралические болота, например на южном побережье Новой

Гвинеи и в комплексе Эверглейдс-Мангров Юго-Западной Флориды. Отло-

жения в таких современных болотах носят диахронный и трансгрессивный

характер [17—20].

Образование торфяных болот может происходить также в районах,

удаленных от береговой зоны, и в некоторых изолированных бассейнах,

режим которых определяется тектоническими движениями. В этих усло-

виях образуются угольные пласты, мощность которых намного превышает

мощность любого отдельного пласта в паралических отложениях. Угольные

бассейны, не имеющие связи с открытым морем, относятся к типу лимниче-

ских или озерных. Причиной образования таких бассейнов могут быть

тектонические движения, подземное растворение или ледниковая деятель-

ность. Обычно эти бассейны имеют ограниченную протяженность, но

в некоторых случаях могут постепенно переходить в паралические бас-

сейны.

Углеобразующие торфы могут также отлагаться на высоких местах.

Е. Пламстед [21] при сравнении палеозойских углей северного и южного

полушарий упоминает, в частности, угольное месторождение Хайвелд

в Трансваале. Это месторождение образовалось в пермский и каменноугольный

периоды на высоте между 1524 и 1829 м над уровнем моря и в сотнях миль

от него. Наиболее древние угли в месторождении были связаны с интенсив-

ным оледенением.
