It has become much more difficult to be dogmatic about the location of leisure.
With increasing levels of leisure activity so its geography has become more dispersed.
The commercialisation of leisure has contributed to its relocation in purpose-built and
larger, more profitable sites. There remain, however, real profound differences in the
availability of leisure sites and in how different groups access leisure opportunities.
However, the changing boundaries between different activities and their location, the
complexity of small districts of the city, and the diversity of the country make the
complexity and the small-scale variations in the geography of leisure more important to
observe and understand.
