A handy reference tool for students of cuneiform. Syllabary of cuneiform signs arranged according to paleography of different periods: Archaic, Neo-Sumerian, Old Babylonian, Neo-Babylonian, Old Assyrian, and Neo-Assyrian. An index of signs provides values and paleography for each sign.
Unlike the standard sign lists (e.g. , Labat, Borger) which are arranged by Neo-Assyrian sign forms only, L'?criture cuneiforme allows a beginning student to search for signs based on different periods. This allows the student to acquaint himself with the differing paleographies when moving into a new period of texts. However, this tool is not as extensive as the standard sign lists and should not be viewed as a final resource. This is merely a beginner's guide.
