7. The assay can also be used to examine the role of different stromal components
in EC proliferation and migration, as suggested by in vitro studies (23). The
sponge of the disc assay can be coated before implantation with fibronectin,
vitronectin, proteoglycan, various types of collagen, and other connective tissue
