plasia of the epithelium. There is usually a heavy
inflammatory reaction in the underlying connective
tissue, the inflammatory cells usually penetrating the
epithelium and entering the cyst cavity. Numerous
cholesterol clefts may be seen. As with the inflamma-
tory paradental cyst, the histology is non-specific.
Treatment
Radicular cysts need surgical removal, possibly pre-
ceded by marsupialization if the cyst cavity is very
large. Endodontic treatment or revision of previous
endodontic treatment of the tooth involved is impor-
tant.
