Lexicology, its connection with other branches of linguistic. As a
branch of linguistics, lexicology is closely connected with
grammar, lexicography, history of language. The connection of
lexicology with phonetics is very important. Words consist of
phonemes. They have no meaning of their own, but they can
distinguish between meanings: cattle – kettle; then – than; fry –
try; etc. The stress can distinguish between meanings, too: to
presént – a présent; mánkind (all men) – mankínd (humanity) . . .
