symposia
were
organized
at
constnuction
sites of
large
dams,

cooperation
with
the
Rumanian
Committee
at
the largest
construction
site
in Europe,
the
lron
Gate Dam
on the Danube
River.
All these
manilfestations
conduced
to
tl-re
pubblishing
of
respective
technical
reports
regularly
comrnunicated
to national
conrmittees
of the ICOLD.

the twentieth
centrury
in the
karst
regions.
It was
constructed
as
a
part
of
the land
r.eclamation
sys-
tem of
Gata6ko
Polje. lt

intercalated
with
marlstones
in
the
val-
ley
of
the

The
gravity
dam
was
con-
structed
of coursed
masonry
with
mortar
made
of

and
pozzolana
(from
Naples)
in
the
ratio
1:2:6.
The
dam section
is
concerve
both
on
the
dovrrnstream
and
upstream
dam
faces.
The
thickness
of the,
dam
is
4.60
m
at
crest
and 18.70
m
at
base. In
the
ground
plan
the
dam
has
been
designed
in
the
form
of
an
arrch,
the radius
of curuatune
of the
crest
a;<is
bei'ng
about
60
,nn.
For
discharge
of flood waters
has
been
constructed
a free
lateral
spillway
with
partly
stonelined
chute
dimensions
of which
have
been
cal,cu'la-
ted
to
meet
the
estimated
maximum
water
flow
of 420

diversion
of
water,
in

of

ding

tunnels
