Hydro sector in Cameroon provides 87%
of all power production. The 263 MW
Edéa hydroelectric projects, located on
the Sanaga River, is one of the largest
hydro schemes in Cameroon. Twelve
units at Edéa, numbered from 3 to 14, were
built by the Ateliers de Constructions
Mécaniques de Vevey (ACMV), today
ANDRITZ HYDRO. Now Edéa will receive
three new propeller turbines, wicket
gate, covers and runners, with an output
of 16.4 MW. The power increase of the
units is around 44% for units 1 and 2 and
more than 31% for unit 3. The generators
will be replaced with next generation
generators of fering a power output
of 18.9 MVA, i.e. an increase of 33%.
