Ask students to cover their photocopy of page 15
(Letterbox). What can they remember about Sylvie from
France!
licit
information. ~bw give each pair of itudents a
photocopy of the Interview with Sylvie on page 16.
Students make questions by putting the words in the
correct order. Then they match the questions to the
answers. Conduct feedback carefully. Ask students for full
answers to the questions,
e.g. My name's Sylvie Deschamps.
I'm fourteen years old.
5
Students now make posters about another person in the
class. Give each student a photocopy of page
17
(Factfile).
Go through the categories on the factfile. As a
demonstration, individuals could ask you questions and you
write your answers on the board (your name, likesldislikes
etc.). Give students a few minutes to make rough notes
about their possible answers to the categories. Monitor the
class, help with vocabulary, spelling etc. Encourage them to
refer back to page
15 (Letterbox) for ideas. In pairs,
students interview each other. Students answer the
questions with full sentences: My namef George.
I'm twelve
years old. However, their partner just writes the basic
information on the poster:
Name: George
Age: 12
Students complete the
factfile for their partner in pencil.
6
Students do a final corrected version in pen and
attach a photograph or draw a picture of their partner.
They can design and colour a border to go around the edge
of the
poster to reflect their partner's likesldislikes, ei.

(Letterbox). Ask example questions about the penfriends:
How old is Antonio? (Twelve). Where does

(Korinthos, Greece.)

Now use the Questions on page 16 to do a reading race.
Put the questions (three sets) at the front of the class. One
student from each pair runs to the front, takes a question
and then returns to their partner. They find the answer and
write
it
down. The student then returns the question and
takes another until they have finished. The winning pair
finishes first and has the most correct answers.
