13. Orthographic views of a casting, drawn in third angle projection, are shown in Fig. 13 . Do
not copy the views as shown but draw, full size in third angle projection, the following:
(a) a sectional elevation, the plane of the section and the direction of the required view
being indicated at X – X; (b) an EE as seen in the direction of arrow E ; (c) a complete plan
as seen in the direction of arrow P and in projection with view (a).
Hidden edges are not to be shown on any of the views. Insert two important dimensions
on each view, and in the lower right-hand corner of the drawing paper draw a title block
115 mm by 65 mm and insert the relevant data.

14. Figure 14 shows parts of a magnifying glass as used by engravers and biologists. The
stem A screws to the base B. The stand and the glass C are connected by two link bars D
which are held in the desired position by the distance piece F and two 6 mm round-headed
bolts and wing nuts E.
Draw, full size, the following views of the magnifying glass and stand fully assembled:
(a) an elevation in the same position as the encircled detail; (b) a plan projected from this
elevation; (c) an elevation as seen in the direction of the arrow.
The link bars are inclined at 15 ° and the glass at 30 ° to the horizontal.
Include on this drawing eight of the main dimensions and a title block in the bottom right-
hand corner. Within this block letter the title, MAGNIFYING GLASS AND STAND and
state the scale and your school and name.
