Insert the following four dimensions: (1) the length of the bracket; (2) the overall height of

the bracket; (3) the overall width of the bracket; (4) the largest diameter of the pin.

Add a title and scale and state which method of projection you have used. Indicate also on

your drawings the section planes AA and BB.

5. Figure 5 shows an exploded view of a tool rest holder of a wood turning lathe. The draw-

ing shows the bolt, washer, the main casting and the clamp plate. Draw, full size, in first

7. Figure 7 shows the details of the parts of a MACHINE VICE. The movable jaw rests on the

bed of the vice. The thumbscrew is screwed into the body of the vice and enters the 8 mm

hole in the movable jaw.

The two pegs are fitted into the two holes in the movable jaw and secure in position the

thumbscrew by the 5 mm diameter neck.

(a) Draw, twice full size, the assembled vice with the jaws 12 mm apart and the Tommy-bar

of the thumbscrew in the vertical position: (1) a FE looking in the direction of arrow A ;

(2) a plan; (3) an elevation looking in the direction of arrow B .

First or third angle projection may be used.

Hidden details need not be shown and only five dimensions need be shown. (b) Make a

good quality freehand sketch of the assembled vice. The sketch to be of approximately

twice full size.

Add the TITLE, the SCALE and the ANGLE OF PROJECTION used, in letters of a suit-

able size.

the step-down pulley fully assembled: (a) a sectional FE on the plane XX; (b) an EE when

viewed in the direction of arrow A ; (c) a plan projected from (a) above and looking in the

direction of arrow D . Print the title. Size of letter to be 8 mm.

Print in the angle of projection you have used. Size of letter to be 6 mm.

Print in the scale. Size of letter to be 4 mm.

No dimensions are required on your drawing: (1) radii at B  12 mm; (2) radii of fillets  6 m m ;

(3) use your own judgement to determine the size of any dimensions not given on the drawing;

(4) no hidden details are to be shown.

10. Figure 10 shows two views, in first angle projection, of the body and base of a shaft bear-

ing. The body is secured in position on the base by two hexagon-headed M8 set screws,

25 mm long, complete with washers. Draw, full size and in correct projection, the follow-

ing views of the complete assembly, together with a length of 25 mm diameter shaft in

position, approximately 150 mm long and shown broken at both ends: (a) a sectional side

elevation on X – X in the direction indicated; (b) an elevation projected to the right of (a),

the left-hand half to be sectioned on Y – Y; (c) a full plan projected from (a).

Draw in either first or third angle projection stating the method adopted.

12. A special relief valve is shown in Fig. 12 . The supply is at the valve ‘ D ’ and delivery is from

(a) a sectional elevation, the plane of the section and the direction of the required view

as seen in the direction of arrow P and in projection with view (a).

14. Figure 14 shows parts of a magnifying glass as used by engravers and biologists. The

stem A screws to the base B. The stand and the glass C are connected by two link bars D

which are held in the desired position by the distance piece F and two 6 mm round-headed

bolts and wing nuts E.

Draw, full size, the following views of the magnifying glass and stand fully assembled:

(a) an elevation in the same position as the encircled detail; (b) a plan projected from this

elevation; (c) an elevation as seen in the direction of the arrow.

The link bars are inclined at 15 ° and the glass at 30 ° to the horizontal.

Include on this drawing eight of the main dimensions and a title block in the bottom right-

hand corner. Within this block letter the title, MAGNIFYING GLASS AND STAND and

state the scale and your school and name.
