Sagae Dam is a multipurpose
rockfill dam with center
core being constructed
on the
Sagae River. The foundation
of
the dam consists
of diorite and
granite with
many
faults and fissures.
Therefore, the
foundation
treatments are carried out
elaborately.
Talus
deposit on the left abutment
of the upstream
of the dam
was designed to be left as foundation of rock zone and
weighting zone
was filled by
rocks in order to ensure the
stability
of the dam against sliding by drawndown of the reservoir.
Natural water
content
of core material is much
higher than
required and working days for embanking core are res-
tricted
because of heavy snowfall and
rainfall which reaches
4000mm
in a
year.
So stock
pile
was
prepared
to
control wa-
ter content and
grading
of
core materials and effective
filing embakment
is engaged.
