Показано, что в открытых системах перестройка структуры (фазовые переходы) происходит за счет внешних источников энергии - следовательно, это не термодинамическое разложение твердого раствора за счет внутренних источников энергии как при нагреве. Предлагается "альтернативная термодинамика" для открытых систем, которую автор назвает механодинамикой.
