Shalaev V.M., Kawata S. (eds.) Nanophotonics with surface plasmons
Elsevier, 2007. - 325 pp.
Current developments in optical technologies are being directed toward nanoscale devices with subwavelength dimensions, in which photons are manipulated on the nanoscale. Although light is clearly the fastest means to send information to and from the nanoscale, there is a fundamental incompatibility between light at the microscale and devices and processes at the nanoscale. Nanostructured metals which support surface plasmon modes can concentrate electromagnetic (EM) fields to a small fraction of a wavelength while enhancing local field strengths by several orders of magnitude. For this reason, plasmonic nanostructures can serve as optical couplers across the nanomicro interface: metal-dielectric and metal-semiconductor nanostructures can act as optical nanoantennae and enhance light matter coupling in nanoscale devices.
This book describes how one can fully integrate plasmonic nanostructures into dielectric, semiconductor, and molecular photonic devices, for guiding photons across the nanomicro interface and for detecting molecules with unsurpassed sensitivity.

Springer, 2007. - 268 pp. The development of advanced dielectric photonic structures has enabled tremendous control over the propagation and manipulation of light. Structures such as waveguides, splitters, mixers, and resonators now play a central role in the telecommunications industry. This book will discuss an exciting new class of photonic devices, known as surface plasmon nanophotonic structures. Surface plasmons are easily accessible excita...

Springer, 2005. - 430 pp. - Authors: Jean-Michel Lourtioz, Henri Benisty, Dominique Pagnoux, Vincent Berger, Jean-Michel Gerard, Daniel Maystre. Just like the periodical crystalline potential in solid-state crystals determines their properties for the conduction of electrons, the periodical structuring of photonic crystals leads to envisioning the possibility of achieving a control of the photon flux in dielectric and metallic materials. The use...

Springer-Verlag Berlin, Heidelberg, 1988. - 135 р. This review describes the basic physics of surface plasmons (SPs) propagating on smooth and corrugated surfaces. SPs represent electromagnetic surface waves that have their intensity maximum in the surface and exponentially decaying fields perpendicular to it.

The Royal Society of Chemistry, 2008. - 403 p. - Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) plays a dominant role in real-time interaction sensing of biomolecular binding events. This book focuses on a total system description including optics, fluidics and sensor surfaces. It covers all commercial SPR systems in the market. It is the first of its kind and fills a gap in the technical literature as no other handbook on SPR is currently available. The final...
