approach to the integrated assessment of the state of the regional labour market, which is based on the calculation of the integral index of tension. The possibility of using this methodology both at the level of the region as a whole and at the level of municipal structures is presented. By means of the method of the factor analysis groups of indexed were identified, which directly affect the tension of regional labour markets. On the basis of the calculated integral index in the subjects of Russia homogeneous groups of territories were segregated and promising directions of their development were identified in order to reduce the level of tension on them. The research findings are focused on using by regional and municipal authorities in the process of working out strategies and programs of social development of the region, aimed at the segregation of promising directions of labour
market development and reducing tension on them. This research may also be useful to researchers, students, graduate students, high school teachers and other interested persons.
