Мировые войны ХХ века сблизили ход истории в Америке и Европе. Анализируются причины Второй мировой войны. В 1939 г. Россия и США вновь стали "европейскими игроками", после 20-летней паузы; их общим врагом был "государственный" национализм Германии и ряда других стран. Это стало основой для "странного союза" СССР и США в годы войны. Общественное настроение в 1939 г. было совсем иным, чем в 1914 г.: знали, что война будет долгой, но не знали, что она будет последней европейской войной.
