The solar wind is a stream of charged particles - a plasma - ejected from the upper atmosphere of the sun. It consists mostly of electrons and protons with energies of about 1 keV. These particles are able to escape the sun's gravity, in part because of the high temperature of the corona, but also because of high kinetic energy that particles gain through a process that is not well-understood at this time. The solar wind creates the Heliosphere, a vast bubble in the interstellar medium surrounding the solar system. Other phenomena include geomagnetic storms that can knock out power grids on Earth, the aurorae such as the Northe Lights, and the plasma tails of comets that always point away from the sun. This book presents the latest research in the world on this topic.
On The Relationship between Solar Activity and Forest Fires
Statistical Characteristics of the Heliospheric Plasma and Magnetic Field at the Earth's Orbit during Four Solar Cycles
Solar Energy Research, Sustainable Development and Applications
Experimental and Modeling Evidence of the Solar Wind Energy Influence on the Earth Atmosphere
Electrostatic Wind Propulsion
Solar Wind and Motion of Interplanetary Dust Grains
A Role of the Solar Wind in Dynamics of Interstellar Dust in the Solar System
Solar Wind, Large Diamagnetic Cavities, and Energetic Particles
Solar Wind Interaction with Artificial Atmospheres
